Foundation Software, Inc., was founded in 1985 by Fred Ode. His single goal was to create the best accounting system for the construction industry, surrounded by quality support and services. Twenty-five years later, the company is recognized by contractors, construction CPAs and peers alike as the author and developer of construction accounting software; Foundation® for Windows®, (Foundation).

FOUNDATION is a job cost accounting program that utilizes the powerful Microsoft® SQL Server as the back end database, giving it data flexibility and security.

Over 2,600+ construction companies across the United States currently use FOUNDATION as their job cost accounting system. The software is designed for commercial, industrial and government contractors, with general contractors, heavy/highway, and specialty contractors (ex: electricals, concrete, sewer, excavating, roofing, mechanical, etc.) making up the bulk of satisfied FOUNDATION users.

The FOUNDATION base system includes job costing, payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders & subcontracts, the patent-pending CPA audit/review module and the Genie Series of custom report, invoice, timecard and form designers.

Additional modules are also available and include project management, document imaging & routing, scheduling, service dispatch, executive dashboard, notes & reminders, equipment usage and maintenance, inventory, fixed assets, time & material billing, unit price billing, and consolidated general ledger.

With it’s SQL server flexibility, Foundation integrates with various third-party “best of breed” software and hardware products like estimating, timecard entry systems, inventory tracking systems, handheld devices, etc. Additionally, the company also offers a complete payroll service focused exclusively to the construction industry.
