Microsoft Great Plains has been on the market the longest among high end PC Windows-based accounting systems. First released in 1993, Microsoft Great Plains (Microsoft Great Plains was acquired by Microsoft in April 2001) is now shipping Release 8.0 – its seventh generation graphical solution. Therefore, it has achieved a unique level of stability, maturity, and technological leadership in its market segment.

Microsoft recently announced a new product strategy whereby the previous Dynamics and eEnterprise products have been combined into one product, Microsoft Great Plains (MGP). These include: Financial, General Ledger, Receivables Management, Payables Management, Bank Reconciliation, Frx Financial Analysis, Enterprise Reporting, Project Accounting, Collections Management, Intercompany, Fixed Assets, Distribution, Purchase Order Processing, Sales Order Entry, Inventory Control, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Orders, Routings/Work Centers, CRP (Cap Req Plan), Engineering Change Mgt, Materials Req Plang, Master Scheduling, Sales Forecasting and Job Costing.
