Jonas Software Overview

Founded in 1990, Jonas Software is a fully integrated construction management software system that offers a wide range of applications, including accounting, bid management, project management, service management and customer management. Jonas serves the needs of general contractors and specialty trades, but their true sweet spot is service-oriented companies, such as commercial mechanical contractors, with $5M+ in revenues. This solution's strong points are its job accounting, service, equipment and inventory applications. Jonas runs on a proprietary database, but has an ODBC connection to SQL. 

Jonas is considered to be one of the construction industry's mobile computing leaders. The company offers mobile applications that can be used in the field with either PDAs or PCs, such as an application to capture service billing and work order details. The Jonas e-timesheets function is designed to capture field labor, but it is a relatively new application that some users have found to be slow and hard to use. The current version of Jonas sports a much-improved query and custom reporting engine, which is a capability that many middle market construction software systems lack. It should also be noted that large contractors with many workstations and dispersed locations must be careful about performance issues with Jonas.
