Practice Management Software
Reviews and Ratings

Practice management software means more today than the customized accounting function we might have imagined just a few years ago. It often means the integration of many different functions involved in patient care: scheduling, billing, maintenance of electronic medical records, accounting, and HIPAA-ready electronic claims processing.

Practice management software needs to be flexible enough to serve solo practitioners, large group practices, HMO's, hospitals, clinics, and other health care management facilities. With the burden of regulatory compliance, even a small practice needs to be able to integrate all its functions, maintain security features to protect patient information, and allow for easy and flexible reporting so that the practice can view a patients' health care history, from a first visit through the billing cycle, in a consistent and easy to follow way.

Approach
There are many excellent practice management software packages available and vendors who offer completely integrated solutions with all software from one source. Others integrate with 3 rd party vendors. The choice can sometimes be to buy the “best of breed” vendor at a particular function, such as medical records, and then integrate it with a medical billing package but this must be weighed against going to a sole source solution which offers the advantage of an integrated solution designed by the same vendors.

How does a practice arrive at the right decision? How do you get the right fit with your company's needs? And how do you know that the software vendor will hold your hand and provide support when you need it?
