‘Helping Construction Companies Grow’ Fuels Dexter + Chaney’s Growth
Developer of Spectrum Construction Software named to ‘Software 500’ ranking of world’s largest software, service providers
SEATTLE, January 28, 2009: “Helping construction companies grow” is the mantra at Dexter + Chaney (www.dexterchaney.com), Seattle-based developer of Spectrum® Construction Software employed by construction companies throughout the U.S. Following that credo has helped the company grow its own business, demonstrated by its recent inclusion in Software Magazine’s “Software 500” listing of the world’s largest software and services providers.
Dexter + Chaney placed 351st in the ranking, with $18.6 million in revenues in calendar year 2007. It advanced nine places over the previous year, when it was 360th on 2006 revenues of $15.0 million. The company has made the Software 500 five consecutive years.
“Our entire focus at Dexter + Chaney is to provide products and services to help our construction-company clients grow their businesses,” said John Chaney, Dexter + Chaney co-founder and president. “We work closely with them to ensure that Spectrum’s capabilities help them keep pace with the constant changes in the construction industry. That’s particularly critical in difficult economic times like these.”
The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2007. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting.
Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business, such as hardware. Forty-two percent of the 2007 Software 500 companies are privately held. The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co. and posted at www.Softwaremag.com, as well as from public documents.
“The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff research and create the short list of business partners,” said John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com. “It is a quick reference of vendor viability.”
