ECi M1 began operations in the early 2000’s. It was founded by Aleta Groves in Australia who previously worked for Epicor. ECi Software Solutions acquired M1 in 2011 and the product was renamed ECiM1. In 2014 the company was purchased by The Carlyle Group. ECiM1 is a $110M company with 1,000 customers, (275 in Australia, balance in North America). ECi is privately held and headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. Offices are located throughout the U.S. in Texas, California, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin. Global offices are located in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
In July, 2017 The Apax Funds purchased a majority interest in ECiM1. The Carlyle Group continues to have a minority interest. Concurrent with this transaction, the Macola JobBOSS and MAX business of Exact Software (a current Apax Funds portfolio company) combined with ECi. These businesses are based in the U.S. and provide ERP software applications to a wide range of manufacturers.
ECi M1 is a Windows-based client/server application designed for job shops, custom manufacturers and mixed-mode manufacturers. It is based on Microsoft® .NET technology, a powerful graphical development environment, and the industry standard Microsoft SQL Server. It is a manufacturing software solution for small to mid-size custom and make-to-order operations. With the addition of Acsellerate’s Integrated CRM, it is working on a better solution for repetitive manufacturers who need forecasting. The software is written in Visual Basic.
The software provides total integration and automation from manufacturing quoting software through invoicing. Data entered once via an easy-to-use quote wizard carries through to jobs, purchasing, shipping, invoicing and so forth. This is a manufacturing software solution that supports customization and offers many ease-of-use features, including “Smart Screen Technology”. The company has been in business for over 30 years and supports more than 800 M1 software customers.
Version 9.2 offers real time cost accounting with a new Cost of Goods module and LIFO/FIFO costing so users can manage their costs in real-time. The enhanced scheduling user interface allows creating custom calendar views. For any given month you can look at Late Deliveries, Scheduled Deliveries, and Shipments, all on the same calendar view.
